When I was overweight, I craved everything I saw. Every 5 minutes, I would see a different commercial on TV promoting “The best diet in the world” and everyone in my family would give me different advice. Nothing worked for me and that caused me to grow more frustrated and caused my self-esteem to drop. During this time, the hardest thing was that no one wanted to see or be around me because I turned into a very negative person who was always bitter and moody. Since nothing worked, I became “addicted” to excuses. I would hide behind any situation in order to avoid having to exercise or eat healthier. Headaches, the cold, the heat, the rain, work, fatigue, and any other excuse I could possibly come up with so that I wouldn’t have to confront my problem. I left a doctor’s appointment very scared and remembered that two days earlier, my friend had tagged me in a post on Twitter from Alejandro Chabán, so on my way home, I read over all of his advice. I was so happy that I had finally found someone who would explain to me the “why” of things and explained how my body and mind worked. From that moment on, I was determined and inspired. I was encouraged to start the plan and, honestly, I’ve never been happier! I finally took the word “diet” out of my mind and now I see it as a lifestyle. I love being able to eat plantains, roasted chicken, chicken soup, steak with onions, and all those dishes that I loved and had stopped eating for years because I didn’t have the proper understanding of how to diet. After about 43 pounds, I can say that with Yes You Can!, I have transformed my life forever My husband became Alejandro’s #1 fan and tells me that I’ve never been more affectionate and loving!
