My name is Brenda Castillo, I am Salvadoran, and I live in Boston. I’ve always been the chubby one of the family. Ever since I was a child, everyone will say I was older because how fat I looked. When I was at school, I couldn’t dress like the girls my age because my friends were skinny and I looked like an adult for being overweight, my huge hips and my big breasts. I was terrified of mirrors! I didn’t accept my body since it wasn’t feminine but rather grotesque. I weighed 230 pounds and was a 1X size. My breasts were so big that I had to stop using bras because there wasn’t my size. I didn’t feel womanly wearing sports clothes and huge T-shirts while all my body fat, including my breasts, were sagging at a young age. I made many attempts to lose weight, but with my busy lifestyle, like many women, I felt that there was no way to achieve it. Until I found an angel named Alejandro Chabán, who designed the first and only diet with a Latin flavor: Yes You Can!. I’ve lost 84 pounds and fulfilled my dream to finally lose weight, feel confident and feminine, and to say Yes You Can!.
